Generally, it is said that a boy's first shrine visit is on the 31st day of his birth, and a girl's on the 32nd day of her birth. (The number of days varies depending on the region.)
It is also sometimes done in conjunction with the 100th day celebration, which is the same as the first feeding ceremony and takes place on the 100th day after birth.
It's the first precious event for the whole family where all the children are born!
